If your VPN client is connecting to our servers (IE. The status icon changes from Red to Green), but the IP address or location you appear to be online from does not change when the connection is active, then the issue may be that you have not set the permission properties for the software to "Run as Administrator".
When this occurs; your OpenVPN client can connect with our servers, but does not have permission to change your computer's routing table, and your computer ignores the VPN connection, causing your IP address to not change to that of one of BoxPN's servers / locations.
Depending on your system; you will need to change the properties of your OpenVPN client. Please see below for locations of these folders depending on whether your system is 32bit or 64bit:
- C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\bin\openvpn-gui.exe
- C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenVPN\bin\openvpn-gui.exe
- Open the correct folder (from above) in Windows Explorer, right click on "openvpn-gui.exe" and select "Properties".
- Change to the Compatibility tab & ensure that the "Run this program as administrator" checkbox is checked; please check it if it is not selected.
Click "OK" to save the setting you just changed.
